💋 Lip Blush Tattoo Q&A + Aftercare✨
Q: What is lip blush tattooing and how does it work?
Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that gently implants pigment into the lips using a fine needle. It enhances your natural lip color, defines the lip shape, and gives a fuller, more youthful appearance — no need for daily lipstick.
Q: Does it hurt?
A numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure. While lips are sensitive, most clients say it feels like light pressure or tingling — not painful.
Q: Will my lips swell? How long is the healing process?
Mild swelling is common and usually goes down in 1–2 days. Peeling typically starts around day 2–5. Full color settles in 4–6 weeks, and a touch-up may be needed for best results.
Q: Will the color look too dark at first?
Yes — the color appears brighter and more saturated during the first 1–2 days. As the lips heal and peel, the color softens and becomes more natural.
Q: How long does it last?
Lip blush typically lasts 1–3 years, depending on your skin, lifestyle, and aftercare. Touch-ups help maintain the look.
Q: Can I wear makeup or eat normally after?
Avoid lipstick or gloss until your lips are fully healed (7–10 days). For the first 48 hours, eat soft, cool foods and drink through a straw. Avoid spicy, hot, or acidic foods.
Q: What if I have a history of cold sores?
If you’ve ever had cold sores, please inform us in advance. It’s important to take antiviral medication (like Acyclovir) 2–3 days before and after the procedure to help prevent an outbreak.
🧴 Lip Blush Aftercare Instructions
✅ Keep your lips clean and dry — avoid touching with unwashed hands.
✅ Apply a thin layer of Vitamin E oil or ointment (provided or recommended by your artist) 2–3 times a day for the first 7 days to keep lips hydrated and promote healing.
✅ Gently clean lips after eating using saline solution or lukewarm saltwater (not tap water). Pat dry — do not rub.
✅ Do not pick or peel the flaking skin — let it fall off naturally to avoid pigment loss.
✅ Avoid sun exposure, steam, sauna, or swimming for at least 7 days.
✅ Avoid smoking and alcohol during healing as they may affect color retention.
✅ Use a straw to drink, and avoid spicy, hot, or highly pigmented foods and drinks (e.g. coffee, wine, curry) for 3–5 days.
